ePortfolioAlexandra Alteio

Hello, and welcome to my ePortfolio!  My name is Alexandra Alteio and I am a currently a very enthusiastic freshman, Communications Management and Design major, at the Roy H. Park School of Ithaca College.  I hail from the small city of Kingston, New York where I lived for seventeen years and in that time spent four years attending Kingston High School.  Along side of my Strategic Communications interests are that of English and Literature.  I have always had a love for reading and even worked at a local library throughout high school. In this vein I hope to minor or double major in English.  It is this strong passion for both of these areas that led me to the ultimate dream goal of being a part of the Publishing industry.  While at Ithaca College I look forward to gaining and honing the skills necessary to become the best candidate possible to make that dream a reality.  In addition, outside of pure academia I am extremely invested in the arts, having played the piano for twelve years and the violin for nine I plan to continue my musical interests in some way at Ithaca.  I also enjoy creating through drawing, painting and photography all of which relates to my penchant for the design aspects of my major.

In this ever evolving and changing world I think it is important not to put ones self in a box.  Being well rounded does not mean to have a hand in so much you can’t remember what you have a true appreciation for, instead it means being passionately involved in a handful of significant pursuits that speak to you as an individual and that makes you flourish and shine.  In my short time at Ithaca College I have already begun to find a few places.  I am currently involved with the Design and Layout team of the Ithacan, the schools prestigious newspaper, the International Association of Business Communicators (though not an official member), and the photography club IC Capture.

As I continue towards my expected graduation in 2016 I hope to grow and gain experience that will provide me with all the abilities necessary to be successful at what ever my future goals may be, whether they change completely or just adjust and modify slightly from the plan I see today.  So much of the world is available to those in my major that any area of interest I have there is a way to make that happen for my future.
