Abigail Cassel

Hello and Welcome to my E-Portfolio.  My name is  Abigail Cassel and I graduated Ithaca College with B.A in Anthropology .  I also have minors in both Women's Studies and Art History.  This portfolio will give you a concise look into my interests and my accomplishments since being at Ithaca College.

I choose Anthropology because I have always had an intense interest in people and why they do what they do.  As my time in Ithaca progressed I added my Art History minor because of my love of art and how each medium we study (architecture, sculpture and painting) gives an even deeper look into the way culture works.  Later I added a Women's Studies minor because I realized that the issues the department focuses on were important to me and being in classes with others who had similar interests allowed me to further understand what I wanted to do with my life.

I worked at the Paleontological Research Institution as a Research Intern in Conservation Paleobiology with Dr. Gregory Dietl, Director of Collections.  I have become familiar with collections work as well as working in labs such as the Wet Lab and the Paleontology Lab.  I have engineered my own experiments and animal interactions that have yielded information I am now working to get published.

My interests outside of school range from music to motorcycles, I have been working on my basic medic training and I have my Open Water Scuba certification.  I hope to travel in the next couple of years before I settle down to get my graduate degree.  So far, I have worked in St. Vincent and the Grenadines with the SVG Public Archaeology Program at the Argyle 2 Site on St. Vincent and the experience was amazing.

Please feel free to look around and contact me if you have any questions!

Thanks!
