Welcome to my ePortfolio! My name is Christine Zulkosky, I'm from Rochester, New York, and I'm currently a Television-Radio major here at Ithaca College. My love for communications became clear to me when I realized my high school had it's own news crew that would broadcast the morning announcements every day over our school's television system. Throughout my entire high school career I was fascinated with the news team, and my senior year I was finally able to join because of an opening in my schedule. I fell in love. I loved it all, filming events, gathering and editing footage, and most of all, anchoring and reading the announcements to my peers. It became evident that a degree in communications was the right path for me. Outside of my schoolwork, I swam on the Varsity swim team for six years at my high school, and I swim on the Varsity team here at Ithaca.
One of the main reasons communications is so exciting to me is because it's constantly changing and evolving. In today's world there are more ways to link consumers with advertisers and send information to the masses than ever before. It's impossible to browse the internet without seeing an advertisement for something, and with internet so readily available on new handheld devices and mobile phones, the possibilities are endless. It's important to try new things and be open to new opportunities in today's industry, because you never know what will click with the masses. We're in a digital age, where social networking is king and we're constantly exposed to information overload. There are so many new ways to get a message out, whether it be through a youtube video, a tweet, or a facebook status, it's easier than ever before to connect with other people via the internet. With so many opportunities available to us, it's crucial that we take advantage of every single one, because you never know where it will lead you.
