Welcome to my portfolio! My name is Emily Zalewski and I'm a senior at Ithaca College studying Health Care Management with a minor in Business Administration. I will graduate with a Bachelor of Science in December 2013.
I've always had a passion for health, wellness, and technology. I spent the first two years of my college education studying Biomedical Engineering with a concentration in Biosensors and Bioinstrumentation at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. As I progressed through the program, I realized I wanted to pursue a different course of study and be more directly involved with healthcare through administration and policy. This realization gave me the opportunity to transfer to Ithaca College and become a Health Care Management student in the School of Health Sciences and Human Performance.
Outside of the classroom, I enjoy being involved on campus to build skills, relationships, and gain valuable experience. Currently, I participate in the following at Ithaca College:
After graduation, I plan to work in a hospital or at a health insurance company. My long-term goal is to work in hospital administration as a member of senior leadership. I am interested in strategic planning, operations, corporate compliance/regulatory affairs, and health insurance. In my future, I will pursue either a Master of Health Administration (MHA) or MBA in Healthcare Management degree to advance my management skills, business and operational knowledge, and to further develop myself as an effective health care leader.
