Hello, my name is Genevieve Harris. I'm a Communication Management and Design major at Ithaca College, with a concentration in Instructional Technology and minors in Art and Honors. Aside from Communications, I love art, music, and technology - passions which I bring into everything that I do.
I'm originally from Ovid, NY, where I attended South Seneca Central School and graduated in 2009. In high school I was very active in both music and art. I was also involved in National Honor Society, which helped me develop a passion for community service; my final project in NHS was a benefit concert for the Tompkins County SPCA - "Woofstock" - that raised over five hundred dollars and much-needed supplies for the shelter.
Now, as a junior in college, I've furthered my skills in Communications through classes like Presentation Media & Visual Design, Interactive Media, Websites that Work, and E-Learning. I've also continued with art through classes like Introduction to Painting and Sculpture, and I've found a connection to music through Sigma Alpha Iota, a professionally-oriented international music fraternity. As an SAI member, I've been involved in philanthropic activities like caroling at local nursing homes, can drives for local music programs, the Ithaca College Relay for Life, and more.
After this semester, I will be adding a third minor - Game Development - to build connections between my Communications classes and my love of technology. I'm currently taking classes such as Flash for Animation and Games and Principals of Computer Science I to expand my base of Computer Science skills. With this combination of classes from Ithaca College, I hope to pursue a career in instructional design and e-learning.
