Hi! My name is Joseph Calinda and welcome to my page. I am a student at Ithaca College and am part of the Roy H. Park School of Communications. I am a freshman pursuing a BFA in Film Production, Minor in Business, with plans to graduate in 2016 and I am eager to get a head start on my future.

I was raised with one fact being buried into my mind; do your best, it doesn’t have to be perfect but make sure it is the best you can do. With a strong work ethic, perceptive eye, and creative mind, I always found myself striving for perfection, making my work unpalatable to myself unless I knew I could do no better.

My most current endeavor is working on Ithaca College’s TV network show called The Directors Chair. My primary duties are with the field crew but I am there every week to help set up and clean up. Because of my enthusiasm, hard work, and creative passion, the producers have taught me how to operate the TV cameras and I have even filled in for tapes, floor manager, still frame, and teleprompter, other skill I have been able to acquire during the first half of the first semester this year. In my Cinema Production Class I have learned how to use a Bolex camera, Avid editing software, and Protools.

In high school I directed, filmed, and edited the promos for my schools fall drama and spring musical. With many accolades from the show directors and other teachers, they put my promos on the main page of the school website.  At the end of the school year I received the Video Production Award, beating out tough competition.

Community service has always been a big part of my life. Throughout high school I was a volunteer religious education teacher and a volunteer member on my local fire company.  I was also a Peer Leader in my senior year. Musical Theater, set design, and architecture are some other passions of mine that I try to stay in touch with daily.

My goal as of right now is to have an internship for the summer of 2013. It may be difficult to achieve as a freshman but I will do whatever it takes to achieve it.

Thanks for stopping by!
