My name is Jaime Guyon. I am from Cape Cod, Massachusetts but have been living in Ithaca, NY for the last four years. I have been receiving my education in Voice Performance from Ithaca College, studying private voice in the studio of Dr. Jennifer Kay. I will be graduating with my Bachelor’s Degree in music performance Spring 2013.
In my four years at Ithaca College, I have been a member of Dr. Janet Galvàn’s Women’s Chorale as well as Lawrence Doebler’s Choir and Madrigal Group. Most recently, Mr. Doebler and Choir along with Ithaca College’s Symphonic Orchestra conducted by Jeffery Meyer were invited to perform at Lincoln Center in NYC at Alice Tully Hall on April 19th. Choir will be performing at Ithaca College’s Commencement Eve Concert on May 18th, marking the very last concert at IC conducted by Lawrence Doebler, as he is retiring after 35 years. Additionally, I will be performing in a small group of selected seniors to perform Ithaca Forever, the college’s alma mater, on the morning of graduation during the ceremony.
Earlier this spring, on April 15th, I had my required Senior Recital in Ford Hall at IC, a culmination of nearly a year’s preparation of music. It featured sets by Strauss, Berlioz, Jake Heggie, as well as selections by Puccini and a musical theater piece from “The Fantasticks”.
In June this summer, I will be attending Opera Works, an intensive opera program in Los Angeles under the direction of Ann Baltz. This two week program offers a variety of stimulating courses for the performer, including acting, improvisation, conducting, movement, and much more.
At the end of this summer, I hope to move to San Francisco and continue to study voice, eventually auditioning for graduate school a little further down the road.
