Jackie Chan's star on the Avenue of Stars in Hong Kong!

Hey there, I’m Jarvis! I am currently a freshman student in the Exploratory program in the School of Humanities and Sciences. If you’ve been on campus, you have probably seen me with a rolling carry-on backpack and may have noticed that I walk with a gait—a direct result of my Cerebral Palsy (CP). Although I am Asian-American, my history is a bit complicated. I was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York for 13 years, moved to Long Island for about 2 ½ years, then to Shanghai, China for 4 years, and now I’m an Ithacan! If you’ve ever met me in person, I always say that I’m from Shanghai, as I consider the time spent there to be one of the most significant chapters of my young adult life, and since I go back every summer to visit friends and family. Although I lack a significant amount of experience, I am considering a BFA Acting major, or a double major in BA Drama and Writing. If my curriculum permits, I also intend on minoring in a couple of languages.

In my spare time, I like to write poetry, journal, listen to music, catch up on TV shows, watch movies, go on IMDB, YouTube, Facebook, Skype with friends, read my Bible, pray, do humanitarian work/volunteer, eat and snack on food, take long naps, play board games and video games, and research random things and trivia. Oh, and Italian food and sweets are my weakness ;) My biggest goals in life are to be the best person I can be, to positively influence and inspire the world to do great things, and to continue searching for my greatest passion. As a disabled individual that aspires to become a professional mainstream actor one day, there are many obstacles that stand in my way. In an industry where physical attractiveness is held in a higher regard than actual talent, I hope to one day be instrumental in helping to break down both physical and racial barriers that impede those that are trying to break out into the industry today. Times are changing, and what better way to help the world than by being a part of that change?

I absolutely love meeting new people and learning about different cultures and backgrounds, so please feel free to say hi and get to know me! I’m awesome, I promise! :)
