Hello and welcome to the wonderful world of Josh Toomey's ePortfolio! I'm a Cinema and Photography Major with a current Minor in the Honors program, and I am on track to graduate in the spring of 2016.
Before my College years, I've managed to gain some formal film experience during my time as a Production and Research Assistant at the Documentary film production company Global Village Media Productions, whose productions include the Emmy award-winning 6 part television series Joseph Campbell and the Power of Myth with Bill Moyers. Now that I have finally made it into a film program, I am determined to pursue my multi-faceted interests in Screenwriting for Television and Sound Production and Post-production, as it is my ultimate goal to become a writer/director for an episodic television series (whether Internet or Television-based.) My inspirations draw mainly from revolutionary sitcoms such as It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia and Community, and my interest in sound draws largely from such visceral and revolutionary works of audio composition as Sunshine.
As much as I love the traditional dream of becoming a big-time television or movie screenwriter or director, the job I truly desire is one that is still at its infancy - the fledgling market of viral video production. Successful Youtube channels already create amazing jobs for all those who have worked so hard to create them, and its working philosophy of the more views you get, the more you get paid is truly an appealing one to me. In order to achieve this goal, I plan to get the very most I can out of the excellent education Ithaca College is giving me, and to take full advantage of any and all opportunities to flesh out my knowledge further.
I've got a few projects in the works, as well as a few (very) amateur skit-based films already under my belt from high school - feel free to observe and do as you like, and enjoy my ePortfolio!
