For my Fieldwork class I designed an event that took place at Longview. Due to my interest in Art History and resident's interest in art, I created an event that discussed a topic of Edward Hopper (1882-1967) a prominent American realist and painter. I gave a brief bio on Edward Hopper, discussed his style, meaning of his art, and a short analysis of one of his most famous works Nighthawks(1942). In order for individuals with vision problems to see his painting I brought in a large poster which they were able to look at up close. After speaking I asked residents their impressions of Hopper and their opinion on his artwork. People spoke about museums where they had seen Hopper’s work and their impression of the works. They also remarked upon what I had told them, what they thought was interesting and information they hadn’t known before.
