Welcome to my portfolio! My name is Kyle James and I'm a freshman at Ithaca College. I am an Integrated Marketing Communications major, with minors in Honors, Economics and Sports Studies.

The thing that I am most interested in doing upon my graduation from Ithaca College is Sports Marketing. Throughout my life I have always had a passion for sports. Whether it was playing soccer in a recreational league, scoring a touchdown in backyard football or watching the pros play on TV, I never could get enough of sports. When I went into high school, I joined an organization called DECA that educated me on marketing principles and allowed me to use what I learned in real-world situations. I’ve been hooked on marketing ever since. Combining these two huge parts of my life into a career is my ultimate goal in life and what I plan to do once I enter the workforce.

I believe my talents lie within communication with other people and my unrelenting attitude to make everything I do as great as it can possibly be. Talking in front of people has never been an issue for me. In fact, I find enjoyment being able to communicate what I have to say to others and listen to what they have to say in return. Another strength of mine lies in the fact that my personality makes it nearly impossible for me to put in less than 100% effort on any project I start. While there are some downsides to this trait, such as overworking myself, I have been able to use it to maximize all the positives possible in order to achieve success. It is my ambition to use these talents in any and every way possible as I continue forward with my life.

I know that there are many things I still need to learn to help me have a successful career in sports marketing. There are many things in the marketing spectrum I need to learn that range from marketing plans, advertisements, promotion, public relations, budgeting and much more. I also need to learn things in the business spectrum such as management, employee relations, and human resources. The sports spectrum has many cultural and social aspects that I need to familiarize myself with as well.  While, I still have a lot to learn, I ‘m very passionate about what I’m learning and this makes the whole process a very exciting thing for me.

I feel that there are still many experiences I need to have to obtain the skills and knowledge to achieve my goals. Some of the experiences need to come in the sports field. Hopefully, through internships and other hands-on activities I will be able to see what life is like behind the scenes of the sports industry. Another field that I need experience in is the marketing field. Applying marketing principles to real-life situations will prove to be vital experiences as I make my way into the workforce. With these experiences, I will give myself a great chance to reach my goals and succeed in life.
