Brian Williams and I at Olympic Park

Hello Everyone!

My name is Kelly Wakelee and I am currently enrolled as a senior at the Ithaca College Roy H. Park School of Communications. I will be graduating in May with a degree in television-radio media production & journalism. My goal is to one day become a producer.

During my most recent professional experience, I flew to London where I was a runner for NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams for the 2012 London Olympic Games. While working under M.L. Flynn, I was responsible for setting up interviews, finding experts on specific subject matter, and editing final scripts. I was able to work for one of the finest news teams in the country and learn how stories were developed under extremely stressful conditions.

I have also had experience interning with CBS News in New York City. I worked during the day in the entertainment department, and volunteered extra time to assist the morning and evening news teams. I also worked on the weekend news to get more hands on experience.

I have been involved with Ithaca College’s award winning student-run news station, NewsWatch16, for the past four years. I have worked as a producer, reporter, anchor, and technical crew-member. I have the ability to record, write, and edit my own news packages, and work with the technical crew-members to get the nightly news show running.

I am also involved with Ithaca College's award-winning newspaper - The Ithacan. I have been published as a writer in the weekly paper, and have also developed featured multimedia pieces for their online content.

Ever since my first studio production class, I knew I wanted to work within the news industry. Writing and developing a story is my passion and more than anything, and I wish to develop that passion. I am a hard-worker, am able to take direction, and am always prompt. I also have knowledge of many different camera packages and video editing systems. But most importantly I want to be able to learn and grow within a successful company.

I am extraordinarily excited to graduate and hope you enjoy my website! Links to some of my video work can be found on the left hand side. You can also view samples of my writing under the documents folder. And be sure to check out a few of my pictures from the 2012 London Olympic Games!

Please feel free to contact me with any questions, or comments! I can also provide more references and recommendations upon request.

Thank you!
