My name is Melissa Buck and I am an Integrated Marketing Communications major, Photography minor in the graduating class of 2013 at Ithaca College, and I am from the small town of Horseheads, NY. At IC I work for Information Technology Services in Digital Media Services as a Media Support Specialist and as a Peer Tutor at Academic Enrichment Services. For the last two semesters I was the Graphic Designer for the sitcom, “To A Pulp,” on ICTV. I also participate in the American Advertising Federation Student Chapter as both the Creative Crunch Project Manager and a club participant, and the Awaken Christian group. I have received several honors, including being inducted into the Ithaca College Oracle Honor Society and the Ithaca College Tau Theta Chapter of Lambda Pi Eta, being named employee of the month for September 2010 at ITS, being on the Dean's List, the Rod Serling Scholarship from Ithaca College as well as a computing medal from the Rochester Institute of Technology. I attended Horseheads High School where I was the president of the yearbook staff for two years, participated in the marching band drumline, and served as the senior class historian. I have a passion for helping others and doing community service. This past summer I worked for Group Workcamps Foundation as a Program Manager. With this organization, I helped to run and supervise mission trip camps for youth and adults, impacting several different communities through home repairs. As a Program Manager, I was responsible for all of the multimedia equipment and the photography of each camp.
After graduation I would like to start a career in graphic design, advertising, or creative direction. I plan on opening my own design business or creative boutique. I have always been interested in art projects, computers, and creating things of my own. When I discovered that I could combine all of these things, I found out that graphic design is what I love to do. I love being able to create something myself that is tangible and a creation of my own. I am interested in and have experience with graphic design, advertising, video editing, photography, web design, and computer programming.
