I'm Megan Goldschmidt, a journalism student at Ithaca College graduating in May 2013. I'm seeking a job as a reporter at a print newspaper, magazine, or another job in the communications field.

I recently interned at the Rochester Business Journal during the summer of 2012, where I worked on the special report and small business sections writing more than a dozen feature stories. Before that, I interned for the Ithaca Journal, a Gannett publication, writing feature news stories, profiles, and local health and event briefs. I was asked to stay on after both internships to freelance.

I've written for the Ithacan, our college newspaper, since my freshman year. I covered two sports beats, women's gymnastics and volleyball, as well as some sports front stories and book reviews. I gave tours to prospective students and their families on my extensive knowledge of the communications school through the Park Dean's Host program. I'm the Secretary of our school's chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists as well as the Events Coordinator for 180 Degrees Consulting, a club that helps non-profit organizations with business or marketing strategies.

I have also been a student employee throughout the course of my college career at the Ithacafund Phonathon. I was hired as a Student Phoner, was promoted to Supervisor in 2011, and recently promoted again to Manager in 2012.

Examples of my work and writing are on the site so please check them out. Thanks!
