relaxing in my room during the summer

Hi, my name is Matt Hurley. I was born and raised in the small town of Highland Falls, NY just 50 miles north of New York City. Highland Falls is located at the gates of our country's military academy, West Point. Just being around the academy has only further instilled the qualities of hard work and leadership that have been taught to me by my parents.

Currently I am a Sophomore here at Ithaca College and I am enjoying every day of the college experience. I am in the School of Health Sciences and Human Performances with a dual-major in Physical Education and Health. The majority of my High School years were spent at James I. O'Neill High School which is located in my home town. After my freshman year at O'Neill I wanted to step out of my comfort zone and transferred to Saint Joseph Regional High School in Montvale, NJ where i spent my sophomore year. This was a all boys catholic High School located 40 miles from my home. It took great sacrifice by my parents to drive me down and back to school every day, but in doing so i learned a great deal about life and how competitive of a world we live in.

Outside of the classroom, I play on the football team here at Ithaca College and I'm apart of the Health Promotion and Physical Education club here on campus. Previously to coming to Ithaca College, I attended Utica College in Utica, NY and Rockland Community College in Suffern, NY. If I could turn back time I wouldn't change a thing because those experiences are what have have molded me into the person I am today. Graduating High School at 17 I really didn't know exactly what I wanted to do with my life. After a few years of soul searching I realized what was most important to me and began to understand that if your heart isn't into something then its not worth pursuing. The past few years have matured me more then i ever thought possible and I'm happy to finally be here at Ithaca College.

Upon my graduation from Ithaca College I am going to attend grad school to get my masters in Athletic Administration. I have planned out my path over the next few years here at Ithaca College and I'm looking forward to fill those years with experiences and memories that will last a lifetime.
