Hi, my name is Stephanie Khoury and I am Sophomore Documentary Studies Major in the Park School of Communications, looking to graduate in the Spring of 2015. I intend to double minor in Environmental Studies and International Politics. I spend my time between academics and various Student Organizations. These include being a Diversity Peer Educator, Habitat For Humanity, Take Back the Tap, Buzzsaw Magazine, Sports Section of the Ithacan and attending/leading several Student Leadership Institute sessions.
After attending Ithaca College for a year I am beginning to focus my interest and passions by taking on more prominent leadership roles within the organizations I participated in. These positions include Secretary of Take Back the Tap and becoming a Diversity Peer Educator within the Office of Student Engagement and Multicultural Affairs (OSEMA).
Outside of campus life I have gained professional experience in various outlets. Before entering into school this fall I assisted the end production of NYU Graduate Jane June's film the Sandbox. This past summer I also worked as a Photographer/Videographer at Camp Jefferson in New Jersey. I also have festival and communications skills interning for the Finger Lakes Environmental Film Festival last spring.
What I love about documentary is the long form storytelling that can be expressed through a variety of mediums. Wether it be radio, photojournalism, print or film the ability to tell a story of change over time to me is more meaningful than short segments. I enjoy learning, exploring, and listening to the stories of others. There is always something to build upon with a documentary, because the stories do not end even with the credits rolling at the end.
