Hello and welcome to my ePortfolio!
I am a corn-fed Iowa native with a love of big cities and new places. I am an Integrated Marketing and Communications (IMC) major who plans on minoring in International Business and Still Photography. I also plan to study off campus in South Korea, and both the LA and London Center satellite campuses before I graduate. I expect to graduate in 2016.
Although I have no way of guessing what I’ll be pursuing in four years, I hope to be doing something that I enjoy while living abroad. London, UK and Seoul, South Korea are my dream cities and I would love the opportunity to live and work there. However, I have also had the privilege to visit Australia and Spain and I enjoyed the culture there as well.
In addition to exploring new cultures, I am very involved with my hometown community. I have volunteered as a youth camp counselor through my local parish for the past two summers as well as playing in the music ministry during mass and volunteering for the Iowa Mission of Mercy dentistry program. I also worked as a Water Safety Instructor through the American Red Cross at my local recreation center for the past four years. I have recently had the opportunity to get more involved in the Ithaca community through my current job as the Learn-to-Swim lesson supervisor for the Ithaca Youth Buearu and by joining a community service based sorority.
I chose to go into the IMC program because I love being creative and found in high school that I had a knack for business. I feel that this degree program allows me to combine these two interests into a career. I know however, that the communications field is constantly evolving and I will always need to be learning about the newest and fastest ways to communicate. This is a reason the field interests me so much, because even as I get further and further into my career I will continually get the opportunity to adapt and change the work I will be doing.
