Internship Experience

Center for Independence in Politics (Project Vote Smart)

As an intern I contributed to a database of factual, nonbiased information about politicians and candidates for public office. Worked to develop membership giving and involvement with incentive programs targeted at youth and online audiences. I used and worked to implement programs like Google Analytics and Facebook Analytics to analyze effectiveness of media campaigns and social networking tools.

Tompkins County Office of Administration

As an intern I am working on projects related to updating county policies, researching broadband planning and funding in rural areas, researching grant development within Tompkins County, helping to create a grants resource center for the county and developing a corporate compliance policy.

Tompkins County Library Foundation

This is a non-profit organization designed to raise money for the five town libraries in Tompkins County. As a volunteer intern I maintain the donor database and track funds made by major contributors. I also assist in planning fundraising events, design advertising materials and complete projects associated with meeting fundraising goals and recording progress.

Matt Dunne for Governor Campaign

As the communication intern I was involved in an array of projects that included helping to manage our Facebook page, editing and posting YouTube videos, communicating with voters, creating documents to provide voters with easy information about key issues and managing our VoteBuilder database. For the majority of my time, I developed and maintained a database of Vermonters who had voted by mail. To manage the biweekly data sent to me by town clerks, I developed a tracking system using Google Docs allowing me to be organized at the same time I was able to share my information easily.

Vermont Progressive Party

As a high school senior I was an intern for the Vermont Progressive Party. During this time I attended legislative committee meetings of interest to the party and wrote detailed reports about testimonies, decisions, conversations and potential decisions. This served as an introduction to state level politics that sparked my interest in political communication.
