I am currently a junior Television-Radio (B.S.) major, with a concentration in media production and a minor in Business, at Ithaca College. Before attending Ithaca College, I graduated in 2010 from Lunenburg High School, ranking sixth in the senior class. I came into Ithaca College as a Film, Photography, and Visual Arts(B.F.A.) major in the fall of 2010. The time I spent in the film and photography classes during my first year, has made my knowledge about equipment and techniques more well rounded. While the two majors are very similar, they do have their variations, and after my first semester I found that my interests rest more in the business and collaborative atmosphere of the Television-Radio department and less in the artistic emphasis of the Film department.
On campus, I am an active crew member for student run shows that air on Ithaca College's television station, ICTV. I began my involvement during the second semester of my freshman year as a lighting and audio specialist for the mini-documentary show, Every Ithacan Has A Story. During the fall of 2011 I worked as the floor director for the sports talk show Big Red Faceoff, covering Cornell University men and women's ice hockey. Spring 2011 semester I worked as a production assistant for studio show Entertainment16, along with assistant producing for the sports show Sports Final, which covers Ithaca College basketball games and other sports news. This semester I am working as an assistant producer of Entertainment16, along with assistant audio for a the new scripted field show, Chained and working as the technical director for the game show, Couples Clash
Also on campus, I am in my second semester as an employee at PPECS, located in the Roy H. Park School of Communications. PPECS is the Park Portable Equipment Center, where students and faculty can check out production equipment for classes, projects or ICTV. Students and faculty can rent audio, lighting, video production, motion picture and still photography equipment, along the ability to reserve studio space for filming, and seats in the editing labs. As a student employee at PPECS, I am able to gain hands on experience and familiarity with all of the equipment that is used in the Park School.
This summer I had an internship at Leominster Access Television, a local station near my hometown. While at LATV, I worked on the production of Inside Leominster, the town mayor’s live show, as graphics with occasional experience as camera, audio, and technical director. I also recorded Around the Town, the town’s audio/visual announcements, by rolling visuals, riding audio levels, and running the switcher. While there was not a show in production I also gain experience scanning and cataloging old negatives for the Leominster Historical Society, working with different formats of film, including glass negatives.
During the Spring 2013 semester I plan to study at Ithaca College's Los Angeles Center, where I plan to obtain an internship and attend classes.
